Lead with Purpose at Saltwater Animal Hospital! Saltwater Animal Hospital is looking for a medical director to lead our growing practice, mentor our talented team, and uphold our commitment to clinical excellence.

Expansive Range of Services: From routine care to complex cases, we offer a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and surgical services. Our in-house partnerships with specialists allow us to deliver advanced treatments, supporting the high-quality care we’re known for. 

State-of-the-Art Facility: Our modern hospital is equipped with digital radiography (including dental), in-house lab capabilities, ultrasound, and Class IV laser therapy. Located in beautiful Downtown Des Moines, we’re just a 10-minute walk from the beach and local trails! 

Positive, Fun Culture: Our team is committed to maintaining a welcoming, supportive environment where learning is valued and high standards are prioritized. We participate in a monthly journal club with the medical team.  We also love having fun and celebrating with daily shout-outs, monthly potlucks, and holiday events! 

 

Your Role as Medical Director:

  • Inspire & Mentor: Lead and empower a dedicated team, fostering collaboration and a positive culture.
  • Champion Excellence: Set the standard for high-quality, ethical care through strategic leadership.
  • Collaborate Strategically: Partner with the Practice Manager to shape operational goals and annual plans.
  • Drive Growth: Promote continuous learning and professional development for all team members.
  • Uphold our strong standing as a trusted care provider while driving growth and further solidifying our presence in the community.

About You: We’re looking for a veterinarian with proven clinical expertise, a passion for leadership, and a dedication to fostering an inclusive, drama-free workplace. Prior leadership experience is preferred but not required.

Salary range of $120,000-$180,000/year, with an average production percentage of 20-22%.

Doctor Mentorship Program
Not 1, not 3, but 12 months of mentorship for first year doctors! To help transition from school to clinic life, both a coach and mentor help new doctors develop their clinical and non-clinical soft skills. Build skills. Build confidence. Build relationships.

 

Clinical Tracks Program

Committed to helping teammates grow, we proudly offer over fifty hours of in-depth, RACE-approved CE credit facilitated by veterinary specialists to grow teammate clinical skills and enhance the care of our patients. Courses offered: Dentistry, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, and Cardiology.
