We are seeking a Full-Time Associate Veterinarian to join our amazing team!

Hilton Veterinary Clinic of Ferndale in Ferndale, MI is a dedicated and growing practice committed to providing exceptional veterinary care to the Ferndale community and surrounding areas. Our clinic is equipped with modern diagnostic tools, including digital radiology and Idexx in-house laboratory machines such as CBC, Chemistry, Sedivue, and Snap Pro. We also utilize ultrasound technology for procedures like cystocentesis and offer dental prophylaxis services, including dental radiology.

 

Whether you are a new graduate, or an experienced doctor, we are the practice for you! Our supportive work environment enables doctors to pursue their interests in vet med. Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to our patients and exceptional service to their owners. This role offers an excellent opportunity for both professional growth and contribution to the advancement of our clinic.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive medical examinations and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Conduct surgical procedures in our fully equipped surgery suite.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests, including digital radiographs and laboratory results.
  • Provide dental care services, utilizing our dental prophylaxis equipment and dental radiology.
  • Collaborate effectively with our veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and excellent patient care.
  • Engage in client education, addressing concerns and providing guidance on pet health maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Active and clear Michigan DVM license.
  • All experience levels are welcome to apply; mentorship is available for new graduates.

Responsibilities / Qualifications

How you'll make an impact: 

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
  • Diagnose, perform surgery, and treat patients.  
  • Maintain excellent client communication.  
  • Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.  
  • Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.  
  • Call clients for follow up and to discuss results.  
  • Set standards of care/protocols for medical and surgical areas. 
  • Maintain practice growth and review financial reports. 
  • Communicate clearly and accurately through written and verbal interactions. 
  • Work in collaboration with practice manager for administrative management. 
  • Deal with clients in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. 
  • Mentor team members in the training program for career advancement and personal development towards goals. 
  • Provide feedback and changes to the training program. 
  • Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well. 
  • Provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations. 

Qualifications

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead and establish a vision for the practice team. 
  • Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.? 
  • Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills. 
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis. 
  • Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections. 
  • Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients. 
  • Knowledge of the common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients. 
  • Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia. 
  • The employee must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently. 
  • To perform this job successfully it will be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software.
